5 Ways to Avoid Wedding Day Stress

Your wedding day is just the beginning of a beautiful new chapter in your life. As you start the wedding planning process, it’s only natural to want everything to be absolutely perfect! But let’s be honest, we know it doesn’t always work out that way. Wedding Day stress can really cast a shadow on your special day. As your Wedding Photographer, I’ll be capturing all the precious moments of your wedding day and I understand how important it is to have a stress-free wedding day. So here are five helpful tips to help you avoid wedding day stress and ensure your big day goes as smoothly as possible!

Plan Ahead and Delegate

Meticulous planning is one of the most effective ways to minimize wedding day stress. Start early and build a comprehensive timeline that covers literally every aspect of the wedding day - from hair and makeup to the final dance at reception! (And don’t worry! I will help you with your timeline!) Don’t be afraid to delegate tasks to trustworthy friends or family members. This will allow you to focus on enjoying the day instead of worrying about logistics. And if budget allows, consider hiring a wedding planner instead!

Open Communication

Clear and open communication is vital for a stress-free wedding day. Make sure you have open lines of communication with your wedding vendors, including me! Vendors need to be made aware of your expectations and preferences, preferably ahead of the wedding day so they’re prepared adequately. A well-communicated plan gets everyone on the same page and reduces the risk of last-minute surprises.

Create a “Getting Ready” Sanctuary

The hours leading up to the wedding ceremony should be a time of relaxation and anticipation, not chaos and stress! You should be able to enjoy your time with your bridesmaids, your mom, your siblings, etc. Having a designated calm, well-organized getting ready space, will help keep you away from the hustle and bustle of wedding day setup. You’ll be able to get ready with your girls in a more serene environment, which also gives me the opportunity to capture beautiful candid moments filled with joy and anticipation!

Embrace the Unpredictable

Despite all your careful planning, some things may not go exactly as you had planned on your wedding day. It’s so important to just go with the flow and embrace the unpredictable events that unfold. I know that’s hard, especially for those of us who like to be in control (myself included!). But having this mindset can not only alleviate a lot of stress, but can open doors to unexpected, magical moments that I’m to capture authentically! Just remember, the imperfections often make the most memorable stories.

Schedule your Engagement Session

It can be tempting to not do an engagement session, and I get it, life is busy! But meeting up with me ahead of the wedding day can really ease your nerves and get you comfortable in front of the camera. By doing this, it will help create a more relaxed experience on your actual wedding day. You’ll already be used to the poses and comfortable around me. It’s like a mini preview of how your photo experience will go on the big day! And you get gorgeous pre-wedding photos to cherish forever!
